Vantrue is a great electronics company with a very wide range of dashboard cameras. While that’s a good thing because you get to choose from a variety of options, narrowing down to just one model is certainly not a walk in the park. But as long as you are out shopping for a dash cam you definitely want to include the Vantrue X3 on your list of options. In fact, it would absolutely make sense to make it your top, if not only, pick.
This in-car companion packs all the essential and luxurious features that you need in a dash cam within one fairly affordable unit. That includes a built-in Wi-Fi module, G-sensor, motion detector, LCD screen and of course a lens that records stunning videos and photos. Although the GPS is optional, enabling it makes the Vantrue X3 an all-in-one device that does the work of pretty much any other in-car accessory you can think of. Installing it means you won’t have to install a GPS, Wi-Fi, on-board camera and parking monitor as individual accessories.
Stunning image quality
The Vantrue X3 runs on an Ambrella A12 processor and 4M CMOS sensor. Those two, when combined with the 6-glass lens fitted on the dash cam, account for its ability to record crispy clear videos with 2.5K quality, super hd resolution.
More specifically, the quality of X3’s videos can go as high as 2560 X 1440P at 30 frames per second. Alternatively, you can do 1080P at 60 frames per second. Either way, you’ll still get high-grade footage that shows license plates and signs (including very small ones) with utmost clarity. Even better, the camera has a viewing angle of 170 degrees – enough to capture the road ahead plus a wide area of the sides.
Superior night vision
The 6-glass lens of the X3 has an F1.8 aperture that regulates light effectively during the day and at night. The camera also uses High Dynamic Range (HDR) to balance dark and bright spots. That is why it delivers great footage even in low lighting conditions (at night) while reducing glare when the light is too much.
In case of a hit, impact or collision, the X3 will activate its G-sensor automatically, which will then save and lock all the files that were recorded immediately before and after the impact. Although the dash cam uses loop recording, it does not overwrite any locked files. You can be sure that all your accident-related videos will be intact and retrievable.
The Vantrue X3 has a built-in motion detector that triggers the dash cam to start recording whenever someone or something comes up to 4 feet closer to your car (in front). This round-the-clock parking monitor will keep your vehicle safe when you’re not around to watch it. But connecting the parking monitor needs some hardwiring. Another alternative is using an external battery to power it.
You can link the X3 with your mobile phone using its Wi-Fi and App feature. That will allow you to operate the dash cam using your mobile phone. You can also download images and videos directly to your smartphone or tablet and upload them to various social media platforms using the App. Even better, you can link an additional 4 smartphones to one Vantrue X3 dash cam (bringing the total to 5 phones). So whoever isn’t driving can control the dash cam using their own phone.

Overall it is a great deal and a worthy addition to your vehicle.
