The Blacksys CF-100 2CH is a Korean-made dashboard camera that was released in 2013. Currently, it is among the most affordable taxi cams on the market. That doesn’t by any means imply that it is of low quality. On the contrary, this dual-channel camera is among the most popular and highest rated dash cams. That is because the video footage that it produces is of a quality that is similar to that produced by high-end dash cams.
So if you are on a budget, then this unit is strongly recommended as one of the best affordable dash cams. Just remember to choose the 2CH version because there is a single-channel version available and it is usually labeled 1CH.
The package contents for Blacksys CF-100 2CH include the main unit (a front camera), a rear camera with a double sided tape already attached to it, a 6 meter long video cable for the rear camera, a 3.3 meter long cigarette lighter charger, 3M double sided tape for mounting the front camera, micro SD memory card, five power cable clip holders, and a user manual in English. Some optional accessories that you can add are a GPS logger antenna, a DC fuse power cable and an RCA video cable for connecting the unit to an external display.
This camera is fitted with a powerful Cortex A8 (800 MHz) processor. Its glass lenses have a large aperture of F1.8. Whereas the front camera uses a 2Mpix CMOS sensor, the rear one uses a 1Mpix CMOS sensor. On top of that, the front camera is constructed using WDR technology. It has a bit rate of 14 Mbps, maximum resolution of 1920×1080 at 30fps and an angle view of 130 degrees. Those features give it the capacity to record full HD videos during the day and at night. The rear one has a maximum resolution of 1280×720 at 30fps, bit rate of 4Mbps, and angle view of 120 degrees.
The only major problem with this camera is that it doesn’t have a built-in display, HDMI or USB output and therefore if you want to review footage you have to connect it to an external screen using an AV card. Alternatively, you can remove its memory card and read its contents using a computer, tablet or smartphone. However, it has an emergency button that you can use to save footage that you don’t want to be erased.
High performing features
Despite that drawback, the Blacksys CF-100 2CH can outperform a number of other dashboard cameras. It can loop record and thus ensures that you get the latest footage. It also has an auto on/off feature that switches the camera on when you start your vehicle and off when you stop it. Its G-sensor and parking mode features sense motion and impact when your vehicle is in parking and thus trigger recording that lasts from 10 seconds before motion or impact to 20 seconds after.
- Supports up to 64 GB of storage
- Wide FOV angle of 250 degrees (front plus rear)
- Uses supercaps instead of batteries
- Built-in microphone and speaker
- Smart parking mode
- Supports GPS logger that cross references video footage with Google Maps
- Constant updates by manufacturer to keep it up to date
- Rear video quality is a bit low
- Has no built-in display
If you are willing to compromise on a display screen and rear video quality, then the Blacksys CF-100 2CH is the perfect dashboard for you. Remember that despite those drawbacks, its front camera is actually one of the best that you can possibly find.
